Academic Requirements
There are three areas of academic study required for a student to graduate from Biola: general education, biblical studies, and major courses. The path to graduate will be unique for each student, but your Biola education will include aspects of all of the following.
General Education
General education classes will prepare you with a sound academic foundation in several disciplines, including English, Math, Science, History, Language, Communications, Fine Arts, and Physical Education. Depending on the chosen major, a student must complete approximately 53 units of general education classes. Get more information on general education.
Biblical Studies
Biblical studies classes will prompt you to explore your personal faith and equip you intellectually to articulate your worldview. Each Biola student completes 30 units of biblical studies, equal to seven prescribed courses and three electives. Students generally take at least one Bible class each semester to remain on track for graduation. Get more information on biblical studies.
Major Courses
Major courses will give you the foundational knowledge and hands-on experience necessary to succeed in your chosen career. Biola offers 33 different majors - and several emphases within majors - each with its own distinct requirements. Get more information on major courses.
My Biola education taught me how to think reasonably and instilled the importance of being above reproach. The spiritual growth I experienced at Biola gave me a firm foundation and prepared me to walk with the Lord in a secular market place.

Biola's High Institutional Rank
Did you know that for over 20 years, US News & World Report has ranked Biola as a "National University"? This ranking puts Biola in a category considered "the major leagues of higher education."
Biola is viewed a "National University" for several reasons, including the diversity and quality of Biola's 33 majors, the 17:1 student-faculty ratio, and the percentage of Biola faculty who have earned their doctorates. It should be noted this rank is based solely on Biola's academic and institutional quality and does not also reflect Biola's commitment to spiritual authenticity and Christian impact.
