Strobel has a journalism degree from the University of Missouri and a Master of Studies in Law degree from Yale Law School. After becoming a devoted Christian, Strobel joined the staff of Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington, IL in 1987, where he later became the teaching pastor. In 2000, he joined Saddleback Valley Community Church in Lake Forest, CA, as a teaching pastor. He left Saddleback’s staff in mid-2002 to focus on writing.

Strobel quickly became a famous author, writing books including God’s Outrageous Claims, The Case for Christmas, Exploring the Da Vinci Code (co-authored with Garry Poole) and Surviving a Spiritual Mismatch in Marriage, which he wrote with his wife, Leslie. For two seasons, Strobel was executive producer and host of the weekly national network television program Faith Under Fire. He was also a contributing editor and columnist for Outreach magazine.
